Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the VP, Corporate Compliance will be responsible for overseeing and managing all compliance-related activities.

THE POSITION
The Vice President, Corporate Compliance, reporting to the COO, will be responsible for overseeing and managing all compliance-related activities within the company. This role ensures that the organization adheres to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies while mitigating risks associated with compliance violations. The VP of Corporate Compliance will collaborate with executive leadership, legal teams, and operational units to develop, implement, and maintain a robust compliance framework.
Specific Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company complies with all applicable international, federal, and local regulations governing satellite operations, including FCC, ITU, and export control laws. Monitor evolving regulations and industry standards to ensure continuous compliance. They will liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
- Compliance Program Management: Develop and oversee the company’s compliance policies, procedures, and controls. Implement and maintain compliance monitoring systems to detect and prevent potential violations. Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify areas of improvement.
- Ethics & Corporate Governance: Promote a strong culture of ethics and compliance within the organization. Ensure adherence to corporate governance policies and procedures. Lead investigations into compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.
- Export Control & Trade Compliance: Ensure compliance with export control regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR) governing satellite technology and data. Work closely with legal teams to obtain necessary licenses and approvals. Train employees on trade compliance requirements and best practices.
- Data Security & Privacy Compliance: Oversee data security policies and ensure compliance with data protection regulations. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to address risks related to satellite communications and data transmission.
- Training & Awareness: Develop and conduct compliance training programs for employees at all levels. Foster awareness of regulatory requirements and company policies through ongoing education initiatives.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare compliance reports for executive leadership, the board of directors, and regulatory authorities. Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, audits, and investigations.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience:
- This role requires a strategic leader who can navigate complex regulatory environments and ensure the company’s long-term compliance success in the rapidly evolving satellite industry.
- Experience managing compliance programs and risk mitigation strategies.
- Strong knowledge of satellite industry regulations, including FCC, ITU, ITAR, EAR, and cybersecurity laws.
- Ability to provide centralized oversight of compliance efforts, including administration, investigation, and enforcement of compliance plans and policies.
- Familiarity with maintaining approval matrices, workflows, and ensuring compliance requirements are integrated into systems architecture.
- Experience responding to customer/vendor questionnaires regarding company policies.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with legal, operations, and engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with government officials, industry stakeholders, and internal teams.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or JD preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or legal roles, preferably in the satellite, aerospace, or telecommunications industries.

- Experience managing follow-through on audit findings and remediation activities
- Industry Experience
- Telecom communications/Mobile wireless networks (5G, LTE etc.).
- Corporate Stage
- Public and/or private global company experience with at least 100+ employees.
- $150M+ company revenue experience.
Compensation
Compensation is competitive with the position’s requirements. In a performance-based environment, this will include base salary, bonus/commission structure based on individual and corporate qualitative and quantitative strategic KPIs, and performance stock option plan.
