    BSG has commenced an executive search for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for our client,  a leading provider of specialized solutions in advanced energy, security, and lighting control systems for clients across public and private sectors, including healthcare, education, and commercial industries. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the organization and will partner with the leadership team in managing all operational aspects of the company and ensuring the continued growth and increased profitability of the business.

    Chief EXECUTIVE Officer

    THE COMPANY

    Our client specializes in providing advanced energy, security, and lighting control systems for clients across public and private sectors, including healthcare, education, and commercial industries. Their custom solutions focus on improving efficiency, reducing costs, and supporting sustainability while maintaining a strong commitment to customer service and community involvement.

    THE POSITION

    Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the organization and will partner with the leadership team in managing all operational aspects of the company and ensuring the continued growth and increased profitability of the business.

    Responsibilities

    Operational Management
    • Drive growth, profitability, and company value.
    • Lead expansion of service offerings and enable strategic organizational expansion.
    • Provide guidance to all functional areas, including strategy, manufacturing, operations, sales, service and product.
    • Develop and implement scalable and efficient strategies to ensure both consistent results and exponential growth.
    Build Great Talent and Teams
    • Successfully integrate the two business units.
    • Attract, retain and develop world-class talent.
    • Nurture the entrepreneurial and high-performing culture.
    • Empower the team towards autonomous delivery, while exercising appropriate balance of control.
    Execute with Excellence
    • Drive day-to-day operations.
    • Champion and lead the integration of the two business units (people, process, customer support cross-selling and service offerings).
    • Lead the expansion of service offerings and hiring.
    • Align resources to achieve key business priorities.
    • Proactively mitigate business, operational and governance risks.
    Win in the Marketplace
    • Expand the burgeoning services business and implement other account services offerings based on market and customer needs.
    • Successfully execute and expand upon current contracts.
    • Manage competition and threats in the marketplace, with constant evaluation of financial structure, capital strategy and strategic priorities.
    • Own P&L and cash flow. Manage burn rate while growing the business.

    • Private company experience in the last 10 years.
    • Defined by others as smart, capable, hands-on, energetic, and someone with a strong entrepreneurial/innovative spirit.
    • History of building and creating a strong culture within an organization.
    • Ability to drive consensus among leaders and teams.
    • Proven track record of building successful products and high caliber teams.
    • Visionary executive profile, with ability to guide a company through all phases of growth.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    Skills and Experience:
    • Prior experience as multi-functional P&L Leader in a private company in building automation or an adjacent industry with knowledge of suppliers and channel partners.
    • Past experience in CEO, President, General Manager or COO role.
    • Experience working with Private Equity partners, expanding through add-on acquisitions, integrating company infrastructure and creating a winning organizational structure.
    • Has successfully led multi-state expansion initiatives.
    • Significant experience overseeing multiple functional disciplines such as Manufacturing, Marketing, Operations, Business Development, etc.
    • Strong technology/software proficiency.
    • Successful customer-facing experience in an entrepreneurial, growth-stage corporate environment:
      • $40m to $150m revenue size organizational experience.
      • 100+ employees.
    • S. in an engineering or scientific discipline or the equivalent executive-level experience.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

    A summary of key competencies required to be successful include the following:

    • Functional Experience
      • Past revenue responsibility of $40-150M.
      • Customer-facing responsibility.
      • Successful history meeting and exceeding KPI’s and key revenue metrics.
      • Passion for and prior history of creating high performing teams.
    • Industry Experience
      • Building automation integration and installation.
      • Similar commercial building control systems/services (e.g., HVAC, lighting, energy, security technology).
      • Prior experience in OEMs helpful.
    • Corporate Stage
      • Builder/optimizer leader.
      • Private company experience with at least 100+ employees.
      • $40-150M+ company revenue experience.
    • Management and Leadership Experience
      • Experience serving as President/CEO / divisional GM in the past.
      • Experience working with Private Equity.
      • Experience leading teams in all aspects of operations, such as supply chain and logistics, manufacturing, solutions and services.
      • Experience integrating companies, building a company infrastructure and driving organic and inorganic growth.
      • Experience in managing teams of 100+ as a strong leader of people with a player/coach approach.

    Compensation

    Compensation is competitive with the position’s requirements. In a performance-based environment, this will include base salary, bonus/commission structure based on individual and corporate qualitative and quantitative strategic KPIs, and equity participation.
