The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the organization and will partner with executive officers in managing all operational aspects of the company and ensuring the aggressive and successful growth of the business and commercial success.

Our client is an award winning, in vitro rapid diagnostics company dedicated to changing the way infectious disease is diagnosed and treated globally. The company offers systems for detecting bacteria indicative of infections using clinical urine samples and identifying appropriate antibiotic treatment and provides clinicians with patient-specific antimicrobial resistance profiles. Our client is not only reinventing how bacteria are detected and antibiotics are prescribed, they are also making sure that the products they design are affordable and accessible to all. The company was incorporated in 2008 and is based in the midwest.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the organization and will partner with executive officers in managing all operational aspects of the company and ensuring the aggressive and successful growth of the business and commercial success.
Specific Responsibilities
Lead Strategy
- Set the vision for the company and define the overall strategy from launch to scale; including long-term goals. Drive growth, profitability and company value
- Provide guidance to all functional areas, including strategy, operations, sales & product
- Develop and implement scalable and efficient strategies to ensure both consistent results and exponential growth
Build Great Talent & Teams
- Attract, retain & develop world-class talent

- Empower the team towards autonomous delivery, while exercising appropriate balance of control

- Drive day-to-day operations

- Drive continuous improvement
- Manage competition and threats in the marketplace, with constant evaluation of financial structure, capital strategy & strategic priorities
- Own P&L and cash flow. Manage burn rate while growing the business
Mobilize Stakeholders
- Regularly report updates to Board of Directors and corporate stakeholders regarding progress on strategic priorities, and collaborate with Board of Directors to accelerate progress
- Invest in strategic partnerships & relationships where necessary to drive growth
Qualifications & Expertise
- Prior experience as P&L Leader
- Past experience in CEO, President, General Manager or COO role
- Significant experience overseeing multiple functional disciplines such as Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Operations, Finance, Manufacturing, Commercial, etc.
- Medical diagnostics industry experience (preferably class one)
- Successful experience in an entrepreneurial, growth-stage corporate environment
- Pre-revenue/early revenue to development & commercialization stage preferable
- Comfort & success in raising investor money in past roles (including road shows, presentations, conferences, etc.)
- Global customer/distribution experience preferable
- Experience managing Board of Directors and corporate stakeholders to keep regular updates on business performance and progress
- B.A. or B.S. required; Masters, or PhD in biology, chemical engineering, or bio engineering strongly preferred

COMPENSATION:
Compensation is competitive with the position’s requirements. In a performance-based environment, this will include base salary, bonus structure based on corporate qualitative and quantitative strategic KPIs, and a stakeholder position in the company.
