    Position: Chief Marketing Officer
    Reports To: CEO

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is a member of the company’s executive leadership team and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Working directly with the CEO, Chairman, and other senior executives, the CMO will (1) provide leadership, coordination, and oversight of the strategic planning and execution of marketing, advertising, recruitment, and enrollment functions of the Company, and (2) develop and execute plans and budgets to increase the level of sales for the Company while simultaneously enhancing and improving the positioning and image of the Company brands. In addition, he or she will develop, implement, and refine data collection, systems, and analytics to drive maximum efficiency in achievement of strategic marketing, recruitment, lead generation, and student enrollment objectives.

    THE COMPANY

    The Center for Excellence in Higher Education, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit company and at-will employer. The Company owns and operates private colleges throughout the western United States. The college brands include Stevens-Henager Colleges in Utah and Idaho; CollegeAmerica in Colorado, Arizona, and Wyoming; California College San Diego in California; and Independence University, a national online college.

    All of the colleges are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (“ACCSC”). ACCSC is a national accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. All of the colleges participate in Title IV federal financial aid programs, are licensed in the states in which they operate, and are approved for Veterans funding. The colleges offer degree programs from the Associate’s level through the Master’s level in a variety of disciplines including: Computer Science, Graphic Arts, Business/Accounting, Medical Specialties, Nursing, and Healthcare.

    THE POSITION

    Specific and key responsibilities include the following:

    • Increase the growth in enrollments across all brands and delivery modes.
    • Enhance and improve brand position and image.
    • Increase revenue generation through growth in sales.
    • Develop, implement and manage marketing, advertising, and recruitment budgets.
    • Develop, implement, and refine data collection, systems, and analytics to drive maximum efficiency in achievement of strategic marketing and recruitment objectives.
    • Oversee, lead, and manage the marketing and advertising team and vendors.
    • Develop segmentation, competitive analysis, market intelligence, and recommendations for new product development and business expansion.
    • Develop and measure key marketing and recruitment metrics by channel, by brand, by delivery method, and by location; including lead generation, contact rates, conversion rates, cost per lead, cost per interview, and cost per start.
    • Identify and expand areas of marketing, advertising, and recruitment.
    • Build relationships with and work directly with campus and division leadership to execute marketing and recruitment strategies.
    • Serve as an active member on the Company’s senior management team.
    • Achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness of the Company’s marketing, advertising, and recruitment expenditures.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

    The ideal candidate is or has been a Chief Marketing Officer or Senior Vice President of Marketing for an accredited group of career colleges with multiple locations that enroll students eligible for federal financial aid funds under Title IV legislation. He or she has worked with Senior Executive and Campus Directors to oversee all company lead generation, conversion, enrollment, and other marketing related functions and has a demonstrated record of outstanding enrollment growth. He or she understands the importance of accreditation and regulatory compliance. Demonstrated experience in researching market segments, creating direct-response and enrolment campaigns, and generating productivity from multiple and varied advertising channels.

    This individual needs to be both a player and coach - strategic enough to handle critical management issues but also hands-on enough to make things happen when necessary.

    Specifically, this individual has -

    • Increased the growth in sales across all brands and delivery modes.

    • Overseen, led, and managed the marketing and advertising team and vendors.
    • Developed segmentation, competitive analysis, market intelligence, and recommendations for new product development and business expansion.
    • Developed and measured key marketing and recruitment metrics by channel, by brand, by delivery method, and by location; including lead generation, contact rates, conversion rates, cost per lead, cost per interview, and cost per start.
    • Identified and expanded areas of marketing, advertising, and recruitment.
    • Built relationships with and work directly with campus and division leadership to execute marketing and recruitment strategies.
    • Served as an active member on the Company’s senior management team.
    • Achieved maximum efficiency and effectiveness of the Company’s marketing, advertising, and recruitment expenditures.

    Key Competencies

    • 10-15 years of senior level leadership experience in marketing, sales management, and business generation
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher
    • Experience developing marketing and advertising strategies
    • Thorough knowledge of marketing and advertising principles and their application for lead generation, business development, and sales effectiveness
    • Solid and demonstrated experience with direct response advertising
    • Experience and demonstrated success developing, managing, and executing strategies for internet lead generation, SEO, paid search, social media, and other forms of internet lead generation
    • Experience developing strategies, enhancements, and effectiveness for web sites, microsites, landing pages, and other web site related recruitment.
    • Strong statistics/mathematical skills
    • Experience developing budgets, key metrics, and business analytics
    • Sound independent judgment in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, procedures and policies
    • Strong managerial skills
    • Record of building and motivating teams for growth
    • Strong ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders
    • Ability to see opportunities and move them to action plans

    COMPENSATION

    Compensation will include salary, bonus, and incentive in line with the individual's experience.

    TRAVEL

    Travel is unlikely to be more than 5%.
