This leader will also be responsible for building innovative and scalable operations practices, tracking relevant metrics and achieving growth objectives in a manner consistent with KIPP’s mission and values.
Great education transforms lives. Great schools require great teachers and school leaders. KIPP empowers educators to lead school teams, and they invest in training to help them grow as professionals. KIPP schools provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment with minimal distractions and more time for both academics and extra-curriculars, so students love school and maximize their learning.
KIPP is a national network of non-profit, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools with a track record of preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and in life. Since their founding in 1994, KIPP has sought to prove what is possible in urban and rural schools – to demonstrate that demographics need not define destiny and that all students can learn and achieve at the highest levels.
At KIPP Texas Public Schools, teachers, students, and families are all united around the same goal: college and a choice-filled life. KIPP believes that an excellent college-preparatory education will set students up for success in whatever life path they choose. Through collective hard work and commitment, KIPP students complete college at a rate that is above the national average for all students and four times higher than that of students from similar economic backgrounds. KIPP serves 80,000 students in 200 schools in 21 states and the District of Columbia. More than 87% of students are from low-income families and 96% are African American or Latino. Nationally, 94% of KIPP middle school students have graduated high school, 81% of KIPP alumni have enrolled in college, and 44% of alumni have earned four-year college degrees – more than four times the rate of students from similar economic backgrounds.
KIPP schools are managed regionally and for more than 15 years, KIPP Austin, KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth, KIPP Houston, and KIPP San Antonio have put thousands of KIPPsters on the path to and through college. These four regions have a long history of informal collaboration, and they are actively formalizing their alliance to create a single organization called KIPP Texas Public Schools. As one super region, KIPP Texas Public Schools will leverage efficiencies of scale to benefit students, families, teachers, and staff.
Based in Austin, Houston, Dallas, or San Antonio and reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will be responsible for integrating the operations of all four regions while maintaining high levels of operational support for the 50+ schools in KIPP Texas.
